Reactive Power Controllers
Reactive power controllers MCS and MCX series are designed to measure the reactive power of an installation and to give the necessary instruction for connecting and disconnecting capacitors in order to maintain the desired cos φ.
All the controllers are commanded by a microprocessor that ensures an uniform ageing of contractors and capacitors by using a circular connection sequence that takes into account the time that each capacitor has been switched on.
Power factor value to be reached can be adjusted in a continuous way, between 0.85 inductive and 0.95 capacitive.
Standard working programs for controllers are 1:1:1:1:.1:2:2:2:,1:2:4:4:,1:2:4:8:,and 1:1:2:2:.
MCX controllers included fully operational alarm relay that acts when the automatic capacitor bank can not reach the required cosφ . This relay can be used to trip an alarm (acoustic, lighting ,etc.) that permits to find and solve the cause of the problem (blown fuses, wrong settings in the controllers, necessity of increasing the power of the automatic capacitor bank, etc.) ,before falling into additional charges for reactive power consumption.
In MCR controllers, this alarm relay is only available when using 1 to 5 output relays on a MCR-6N, or 1 to 11 output relays on a MCR-12 controller.
MCX controllers also include a harmonic distortion alarm relay and LED indicators showing permanently capacitors steps that are connected.

Installation
The figure shows mounting dimensions of the controllers.
For operation, controllers only need the installation of a …/ 5 A current transformer in the main supply line.
Controllers are supplied with full technical information that makes easier their assembling and connection.
Service
The technical assistance service is at your disposal to cooperate in t he project and installation of capacitors, power factor correction equipments and harmonic filters.
